Pilates & Yoga Training in Zurich

What is Pilates?

Pilates is an intelligent movement method that teaches the body to move with greater strength, control, precision, and balance. Through exercises performed on specialized equipment and the mat, it improves posture, mobility, coordination, and body awareness while developing deep core stability and fostering a stronger mind-body connection.

At PILATESwiss, both Personal and Group Training sessions are based on the internationally recognized Pilates method and our exclusive PILATESwiss Visceral approach. You will train using the full range of traditional Pilates equipment, including the Reformer, Cadillac, Chair, and Barrels. All PILATESwiss instructors have completed an internationally recognized 450-hour certification program and provide safe, effective, and highly personalized instruction.

Each session is individually tailored to strengthen the body’s deep stabilizing muscles, improve movement quality, increase flexibility, and enhance overall physical well-being. The benefits extend into everyday life and support performance in all other physical activities.

What is the Reformer?

The Reformer is one of the best-known Pilates machines. It was originally developed by Joseph Pilates during World War I and was inspired by hospital beds that had been adapted for rehabilitation and movement training.

Its spring-based resistance system creates a unique combination of strength, control, flexibility, and support. The straps and carriage allow for fluid, controlled movements while promoting stability and coordination.

Training on the Reformer can improve strength, flexibility, posture, and body awareness, while also offering opportunities to relieve pressure on the spine and perform supported movements, including select exercises in an inverted position.

What is the Cadillac?

The Cadillac is one of the most versatile and supportive Pilates apparatuses. Designed by Joseph Pilates, it expands movement possibilities across strength training, mobility work, rehabilitation, and advanced conditioning.

Its elevated frame, springs, bars, and straps allow exercises to be performed lying down, seated, kneeling, standing, and inverted. The Cadillac offers exceptional support while simultaneously creating significant training challenges.

It is particularly valued for inversion work and spinal decompression, making it possible to train strength, mobility, and release within the same session.

What is the Wunda Chair?

The Pilates Chair, originally called the Wunda Chair by Joseph Pilates, is a compact yet highly challenging apparatus designed to develop strength, stability, balance, and control.

Its spring resistance system requires full-body engagement and precise movement execution. Every exercise challenges coordination and postural control while building functional strength throughout the body.

Because many exercises are performed in standing, kneeling, or single-leg positions, the Chair demands exceptional concentration, balance, and control. This creates a unique, effective, and rewarding training experience that translates directly into greater confidence and efficiency in everyday movement.
